ProjectRECOVER

In Nigeria, covariate shocks such as natural disasters, economic crises, pandemics, and conflicts have led to severe challenges, including food insecurity, hunger, and poverty. Climate change is likely to worsen these trends, and if development efforts are not informed by climate considerations, an additional 100 million people could be pushed into extreme poverty by 2030. In response to the devastating impacts of these shocks, BNI introduced ProjectRECOVER as a shock-responsive social protection strategy with the objective of building the resilience capacity of poor and vulnerable households to prepare for, cope with, and recover from the impact of covariate shocks.

Our Interventions

Food Aid in COVID-19 Emergency

In response to COVID-19's impact on low-income households, BNI launched the F.A.C.E intervention to provide essential food and hygiene kits directly to vulnerable families in Oyo State, ensuring safety and support during the pandemic.

Youth Food and Climate (YouFC) Literacy Program

YouFC empowers young people with the skills and knowledge they need to take local action in addressing food insecurity and climate change challenges in their community.

Kogi Flood Relief Initiative

KFRI is ProjectRECOVER's response to the impact of the 2022 flood in Ibaji LGA, Kogi State. The project supported livelihood recovery efforts for rice farmers affected by flood disasters by providing training, extension services, and farm input support.

Like air pollution, flood risk is a threat that government should be protecting us against.
