Here is how ProjectRECOVER will strengthen community resilience against flood disaster.

The project will provide humanitarian and livelihood recovery support to vulnerable families affected by the flood crisis. By assisting the affected households, who are largely farmers, the project will help them recover their means of livelihood and reduce their vulnerability to future floods. The project will help families regain their means of income, rebuild their lives, and break the cycle of displacement.

ProjectRECOVER aims to improve food security in the flood-prone farming communities in Ibaji LGA. By implementing sustainable and resilient agricultural practices, such as introducing flood-resistant crop varieties and improving climate-smart practices, the project will enhance the ability of farmers to produce food even in the face of flooding. This will contribute to reducing food insecurity in the area and ensure a more stable food supply for the community. These measures increase agricultural productivity, ensure a stable food supply, and reduce vulnerability to shortages and malnutrition.

Disaster Preparedness and Early Warning Systems hold great power to mitigate the impact of floods. ProjectRECOVER will enhance disaster preparedness and implement early warning systems. By collaborating with relevant authorities to establish early warning systems and conducting training sessions on flood-resilient farming practices and disaster preparedness, the project will empower farmers with the necessary knowledge and skills to respond effectively to flood events.

The project aims to support farmers in navigating the bureaucracy involved in purchasing crop insurance. By introducing farmers to the Weather-Based Index Insurance program and providing assistance in accessing insurance coverage for their crops, the project will enhance financial protection for farmers in case of crop losses due to floods.
